Actually, I was telling this thread back in '96 that the 'Net was about new media and new media is a combination of content and software where the line of demarcation is heavily blurred. Hence the new world term "NuoMedia". AOL got the point early on, NSCP didn't. MSFT understood it, but the Feds got in the way.

One reason for MSFT's success is their tenacity. Since the press release, Microsoft.com users have inundated the NuoMedia servers. Yes, I am looking - but I am a small shop. It is very impressive to see that a company worth over a half a trillion dollars allows nothing to go under their radar.

You see, that is why MSFT has done so well - start-up company mentality, muli-national monolith resources.
