Great answer, very helpful. As far as a book recommendation goes I should have chosen my words more carefully. Ultimately, I will be left on my own to choose what works best for me. I guess what I am looking for are solid, introductory level books that deal with the basic philosophy behind various investment strategies. Categories (that I know of so far) that I am interested in learning more about are: shorting, position trading, day trading, the bulls vs. the bears, and some of the other types of markets.
