Speaking for myself- I have a great deal of compassion for people in need of any age. Safety nets for all, of a modest and humane kind.

And for people who work and pay in- they should at least get back what they put in plus interest- but should the system be a windfall for the long lived and comfortably off aged? I think that is a better question- and the answer to that (imo) is no.
