Hi Janice...About Words of Cheer

>>No words of cheer from Schmidt? Or doesn't he have any?<<

You said it, he doesn't have any at the moment. Remember, few days back I wrote, I wonder what the BOD will do if we have bad Q2-97 results. Typically, after "poopy" (Is this right?) quarterly results you get some action. We had some action after Q3-96 results were announced (BF resigned), and also after Q1-97 results were announced (ES was appointed). Don't be surprised if 3 or 4 of the BOD members pack their bags and leave gracefully, this will be followed by about 1/2 the current managers (Senior and Midddle level) being given their pink slips. Then, we will have something to cheer about.

>>Or is he still trying to assess the very considerable damage done to the company's credibility?<<

In my book, they haven't lost any credibility here. I was getting tired of them misleading wall street and investors continually about growth, revenues, and EPS. Now, they pre-announced the bad news, and hopefully they are ready to tackle their problems instead of coming up with some silly execuses and/or hollow promises.

Regards

Salah
