Capt. Jack,

"AOL is where it is only due to fantastic marketing. MSN is not what I want but AOL sux in comparison. Now drop 100 million CDs offering free startup and minutes every few months, keep the advertising going strong, get the younger generation hooked and you get the 30 million,, being first with the mktg did the trick. Great stock-- lousey service but once the newbies are attached they do not move. They stayed when they heard more busy signals than connections"

You just described Microsoft's rise to dominance.

1) Great Marketing
2) Lousy initial products, but user too complacent to switch
3) Poor support

AOL's content will improve with the Time/Warner merger, don't you think? A content that MSN will not be providing except under license from AOL. In the end I think we will end up with X number of major content providers like we have with TV. There are still plenty of other media companies to merge into MSN.

Cheers,

Norm
