LV firm, AT&T in litigation over big phone bill
LAS VEGAS SUN
AT&T Corp. sued Amazon Natural Treasures Inc., alleging it failed to pay long distance phone bills totalling $47,646.
In a U.S. District Court suit, AT&T said the Las Vegas manufacturer of dietary supplements and herbal medicine, which was billed monthly from Feb. 9, 1998, through March 9, 1999, allegedly refused to pay $47,646 in outbound long distance phone charges.
"AT&T overcharged us $69,998. We're supposed to pay 50 cents a minute for calls to Brazil, but AT&T charged us $3.50-$4 a minute," said Michael A. Sylver, Amazon Natural Treasure's president and chief executive.
"We've been arguing with them over the matter for several months now. We've hired Dun & Bradstreet to collect the debt for us. Now that they've sued us, we can cross-claim, get discovery and accounting and get paid back," Sylver said.
