i think both you and skeeter have a good point. the AOL/TW debacle has opened a lot of eyes. as long as the internets could play in their own sandbox, they didn't have to deal with normal valuation models. but, if even AOL, needs to partner with a conventional media conglomerate for content, then the whole valuation model needs to be re-examined. the research-oriented biotechs have been shunned and undervalued because so much money was pouring into the net IPOs. i see lots of evidence that this is changing.
