There is movement afoot on the Yahoo board to have everyone who is long put in a limit sell order with a very high limit ($200 to $500 or more, whatever the broker will take (Schwab apparently refused a $2,200 sell limit order)).

The theory is that once this order is put in, those shares are "locked" and are no longer available to the brokerage firms to be "loaned" to those selling short. And, the theory goes, this will result in a short squeeze.

The actual "float" of RMBS is, I think, 18 million or so, and 9 million are already shorted. So the potential for a short squeeze is very real, but I actually think it's too soon (I'd think the best short squeeze would be one supported by both technical and fundamental issues, which I expect in one to three quarters).

Anybody have any comments on this ?
