Ken,

You should have this on onelist--took longer as got a phone call that tied me up for an hour. I'll copy it here for those that don't access onelist:

A few explanations: I actually prefer to limit files to about 250 for ease in
editing--so I need to use 3 files for a-e, f-o, and p-z. Could use only one large file as there is no longer the 255 limit set by MS. I use a 4th file for Ptar stocks that are scanned for daily, and this is about 300+ files also. So, I have 4 WOW directories. I'll try to put ALL the steps in creating directories, exporting and importing files, etc--so this may be far more verbose than most will need.

Go to windows explorer and create a new folder on your HD. I use "C" for the
drive, and named the new folder ASCII. Then create as many empty folders in the
ASCII folder as you need for WOW directories--in my case it's 4. So, now have
C:\ASCII\allwow a-e, etc. Leave explorer. and go to QP2 ASCII and create a new
format:

Date(YYMMDD),Open,High,Low,Close,Vol 100's

Just click [Add new format]. in block 1 put date (not symbol) and it will prompt for format and select YYMMDD. Continue in order adding OHLCV.

Next, click [export a list], then click top button and should bring up a window of all your QP2 lists, so select the one you want to export.
Next button is destination, so pick whatever empty WOW folder you created, like
C:\ASCII\allwow a-e
Check send to individual files
File extension is csv
Select # of days
Highlight the format you just created (YYMMDD etc), and click export.

While still in QP2 ASCII export, you might want to set automatically updated
directories. If so, click [add directory], and it asks for the directory you want, so chose one of the empty folders/directories you first created. CSV again, and # of days, chose the new format you created, and save. If more than one WOW directory, repeat, otherwise [save changes].

You might want to go to windows explorer and check the folders you created and see if they have the records you exported from QP2. Double click on a symbol and see in wordpad if the format is what you have to have--6 digit date, open, high, low, close, vol and no whole numbers in the price fields.

Next go to WOW, under Security, click IMPORT. In the import dialog, file mask
should be either an empty field or *.csv [File type] select CSV Comma Delimited ASCII. Then find your directory where you have the QP2 exported symbols. It has a [..] field, so just keep clicking on it till your directory shows up. Should now have a list of your securities as Symbol.csv Next [Select all] Make sure the name of the directory you want to import from is listed under the [Select All] button. The name may be changed unless it is a simple name of only letters without spaces, i.e. my dir is named C:\ASCII\allwow a-e and WOW import calls it C:\ASCII\allwow~1. Makes no difference. Last, only thing checked at bottom of window is [price/vol]. Click [Import]

Next window asks for directory to export to. Make sure it is the correct
directory--if you import more than one file, you will have to manually change the directory's name each time as it will show the last directory imported. Click on [OK to All]. and if I haven't forgotten anything, you should be finished.

During the 1st time you automatically update via QP2 ASCII update, if you have more than one WOW directory, QP2 says it can't find the list file you have indicated for it to update, and asks if you want to create one with all of the symbols in the current directory. You have no choice, so answer yes. It will call it the "List1.lst" and you have no option to name it. Each successive directory gets the same response and QP2 will use the same .lst. Now, you have one List1.lst with 900 records instead of 3 with, for example, 300 each. Makes no difference, and I don't know where this list is maintained, as it doesn't show up in QP2's list directory? Might be in one of the exported files.

One last thing--although the QP2 update is all automatic, you still have to import into WOW each day. Once all the files and pathways are set up, it took me maybe 5 minutes to import 4 directories with a total of some 1200 stocks.

Good luck,
Gary
