Dax,

I do a little rolling down myself. Some long termers I just refuse to sell for a market correction. If I still believe in the future of the company, I will not sell something with huge capital gains for a market correction. Instead, I write covered calls, and will roll down with them. Sell them and buy them back cheaper and sell again with higher premium. Eventually, I get caught having to buy back on the upside and lose money on a call, but if I can make more money rolling it down a few times then the one time I have to buy back higher, it works out fine for me and I still have the stock with no CG to pay except on the calls. I find it to be a great way to hedge yourself on the downside and make a few dollars while your at it. Then at the bottom, I load up long and ride the wave back up.

Have a great day
