>> I think the following two announcements are negatively impacting phcm: Vodafone AirTouch Selects IBM to Launch Global Internet Portal for Wireless Services biz.yahoo.com <<
From the news release:
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 11, 2000-- Vodafone AirTouch today announced that it has selected IBM to design, build, manage and run a global Internet portal for wireless devices. These will include mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) from Nokia, Ericsson, Palm Computing and other leading companies.
I think Pat may be right, that the coming lockup expiration is what is affecting the stock price, IMHO. That and the number of shares released in the previous (Dec.) lockup release. This news, to my mind, is not a negative impact as Nokia and Palm use the WAP standards. Don't recall at the moment about Ericsson.

>> Oracle, Cap Gemini to Develop Wireless Net Portal dailynews.yahoo.com <<
I'm not as sure of this one, as I don't know what standards or protocols they use or will be using - haven't researched it.
PARIS (Reuters) - Global No. 2 software group Oracle Corp. (NasdaqNM:ORCL - news) and France's Cap Gemini (CAPP.PA), which designs and integrates IT systems, said on Tuesday they would jointly develop a wireless Internet service for telecoms operators.
They said the service would build on California-based Oracle's Portal-to-Go, an Internet software which enables wireless devices to link up to databases and the Web, including to e-commerce applications.
However, I reiterate to view PHCM's patents. Remember they get royalties... |
