Washington, Jan. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Global warming is
``undoubtedly real,' and appears to have accelerated in recent
decades, the Washington Post said, citing a report by an 11-
member panel organized by the National Academy of Sciences'
National Research Council. The Earth's temperatures over the past
century have risen between 0.7 and 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit, a 30
percent increase from earlier projections that reflects record-
breaking high temperatures in the late 1990s, the newspaper said,
citing the report. The study -- which didn't try to explain the
reasons for the warming -- dismissed the contradictory results
from land-based weather stations, which showed temperature rises,
and satellites, which showed little temperature change in the
upper atmosphere in the last 20 years, the Post said.

Natural gas fell more than 3 percent yesterday on
expectations that an industry report will show a small drop in
U.S. inventories, signaling weak demand for heating fuel during a
mild winter.
