Hello everybody. This has been a good resource for me and I want to thank all the contributors.

I've just built a new office out-building on my property and I promised myself I would do something about my Internet pipe before moving in. I've been using multiple modems until now as I live in an otherwise wonderful village where none of the high-speed options are yet available. The providers of DSL, cable, and Canadian sat-TV all tell me summer of 2000.

I've been looking at a satellite/dish product called DirecPC (http://www.orbitcommunications.com/cyberstore/Directpc/Main.asp) from Hughes Electronics Corp, well known in the USA for their DirecTV service. It's affordable at <= $300 US, although the monthly connection/ISP fee is somewhat steep at $49. to $129. US. Download speed on this puppy is in the 400 kbps range.

Are any of you using this product or similar satellite-based solutions?

Thanks. --Allan

[PS: What a frustrating week it has been for doing business. I love living here, but I have these periods where it strikes me how backward our business philosophy and government can be. I ordered MetaStock Professional 10 days ago and the customs/GST hassle has been extreme. "Sir, it's because it's valued over $1000. and you're not an importer." Bullocks! DHL actually had the temerity to ask me if I wanted a rush placed on the process, to which I replied, "What do you do normally -- not rush." ROTFLMAO. It's so silly. Vendors could ease the pain by charging your CC for multiple payments as Omega did for TradeStation, or, sigh, we could have better Canadian-based vendors.]
