It was interesting to see Delphi show WAP based AutoPC's that will be available very soon in Europe. OnStar is also working with General Magic to do a totally voice based interface to PIM functions and specialty data. That range of data may evolve to include more if this deal with AOL turns out to be an extension of the car/internet platform.

I was struck by the poor function of IVR in general. If they try to do it all onboard, I doubt it's ready for anything but the most basic interaction.

So, maybe GMGC can do something in an Off-board solution???
The company has been a real stinker, but it's up nicely in the last 6 weeks.

Visteon (Ford) and Clarion also had high profile AutoPC displays at the CES show, but Visteon looked very expensive $3500. Clarion was more interesting at $1200. All the computers still need more integration into the car. They still don't control the temperature, or link into the car control systems. Eventually, they will be a complete read out on the condition of the car.

Regardless, it looks like the car market will add to the cell phone story as they become very large mobile phones.
