`Net's Leading Shop-A-Tainment(TM) Site Expands Broadband Initiative with Feature Films
BigStar Entertainment Inc. BGST , which operates www.bigstar.com, a leading Shop-A-Tainment(TM) filmed entertainment destination site and online movie superstore, today rolled out the next stage of its Broadband Theatre strategy. Visitors to bigstar.com can now view free full-length streaming videos over their Internet connection. Customers may also purchase these movies (and thousands of others) online from BigStar.
BigStar intends to expand its selection of streamed full-length content in the coming months. The following movies can be viewed today:
- Night of the Living Dead, directed by George Romero
- Little Shop of Horrors, starring Jack Nicholson and directed by
Roger Corman
- D.O.A. Dead on Arrival, directed by Rudolph Mate
- The Terror, starring Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff and
directed by Roger Corman
- Dementia 13, directed by Francis Ford Coppola
The addition of streaming feature films to bigstar.com builds upon BigStar's December offering of streaming movie trailers, which allows the BigStar audience to view thousands of video trailers in RealVideo and Microsoft's Windows Media formats.
Today's announcement is the next step in BigStar's strategy to take advantage of the forthcoming broadband revolution. It also further highlights the growing potential of sponsorship and advertising revenue streams for bigstar.com. BigStar is currently developing the technical infrastructure and knowledge base necessary to deploy digital streaming and downloads of filmed entertainment on a larger scale commercially.

Earlier this week, BigStar launched an online showcase for independent filmmakers at www.digitalfirstlook.com. The site provides a worldwide online distribution channel for feature films made by independent filmmakers as well as featuring proprietary content and news about independent movies.
