Stan - I agree that they obviously sold more than "odds and ends." I think I used the phrase "some odd assets" or similar, along with the rather vaguely referenced chunk of the scanning services business. I assume GE paid SMS for the radiography panels developed as part of the NIST project (jeez, it's tough to remember back to when I actually knew this stuff a year or two ago <g>), which were valuable assets that couldn't be sold while the project was still alive. I seem to recall that Byron was our foremost authority on the panels, having spoken to Howard Burris about them.

But everyone here has grasped the equally obvious bottom line: this company is once again alive and well. It now has the ability to pay its vendors, and perhaps even hire some new employees. And if Howard Burris meets with a potential customer, that customer can have confidence that SMS again has the means to deliver what it promises and that its CEO knows how to get things done. -Eric
