Friedman sees quarterly profit on Web investsments

ARLINGTON, Va., Jan 13 (Reuters) - Regional investment bank Friedman Billings Ramsey Group Inc. (NYSE:FBR - news)
said on Thursday it expected a sizable fourth-quarter profit due to fees from helping Internet companies raise money from
private investors or go public.

Friedman, based in the Washington suburb of Arlington, said it would earn 18 to 21 cents a share, or $9 million-$10 million, on revenues of $67 million-$71 million
in the fourth quarter. The two securities analysts following the firm had predicted a loss of 2 cents per share, according to market research firm First
Call/Thomson Financial.
