OG, I discussed this last spring with another SIer, who said all long that Gates and Allen knew it would be split, that it would be more valuable this way (look at AT&T and RBOCs). It will take time, undoubtedly. I also think they are involved with a lot of new things (i.e. Transmeta chip) but for obvious reasons are silent.
