John, I haven't had a chance yet to really take a look at the numbers, but here's what I quickly picked up on CNBC. (while changing a diaper).
Overrall analyst was pretty upbeat about the numbers.
Spoke of flat numbers in the hardware side of the business. (mainly mainframes).
Said IBM bought 2 billion dollars worth of it's own stock in one quarter! (I think I heard that right, that number really suprised me).
Said PC sales to corporate America were robust! (I agree bodes very well for WINTEL).
Spoke of Services part of the industry firing on all cylinders. (up 38%)
Discussed sales to Europe being very sluggish. (this probably helps explain Mr Groves pep talks there)

Talked a great deal about, companies in the PC business being big winners of late. This could explains part of the runnup in Wintel today. (looks like the number was leaked)

With the tech stocks beatin down so bad of late, I think the street will look at this as another indication that their are some very healthy companies in the PC business. Selectivity seems all the more important these days.

Although it didn't receive much attention, I think the US Robotics number released today was just as important. Shows continued growth of the NET. I believe Intel's future growth is now directly tied to the popularity and use of the Internet, and Intranet.

Regards, Michael
