I know of no problem of running Linux on pentiums. From reports I heard the perfomance of Wine driven window apps on a pentium would be OK. The question is one of stability and crashing and such. Or stated another way will the application you are interested in work at all under wine.

For Linux on a pentium class PC, I'd suggest 32 meg minimum with 64 OK and 128 what I like. You could also recompile Linux stuff optomised for the pentium. Could give some enhancement in perfomance. hmmm.... What is the current default processor target for most distributions? 386??

Well on redhat... 5.2 6.0
