This is silly. Wireless TDMA has been around for years and years ... a very well know technology ... where Interdigital does have some IPRs which they acquired years ago (see below) ... but here are Interdigital's revenues for the past 7 quarters (in $M): 10, 46, 5, 38, 35, 12, 11.
We all know wireless TDMA & GSM (a form of TDMA) have grown like crazy over the past few years, yet Interdigital's revenues don't follow TDMA(GSM)'s growth trends.
Now the hope (spin) is they will collect TDMA royalties three years from now because 3G will be dual mode (GSM and CDMA) for many years.
Also, regarding 3G CDMA: "Qualcomm stated unequivocally to Briefing.com that they "don't see any need for Qualcomm to use any existing IDC patents in the future" and that they "do not expect to pay IDC royalties" going forward. It can't be any clearer."

This story is more than ten years old. Interdigital is a "patent" company that originally bought key patents for TDMA and from the beginning depicted CDMA as "in violation of the laws of physics." As Qualcomm's CDMA neared approval by standards bodies, Interdigital tried to create confusion in the market and prevent CDMA's acceptance by claiming that Qualcomm's CDMA was inferior to their own pure "wideband" CDMA. These patents have been around for nearly a decade and they are irrelevant.
