I haven't looked at the number of directors for AOL, but I suspect their interest in Time Warner was spurred by the need for higher speed Internet access. They've always been short of adequate telephone connections and they see themselves losing out to others if they don't get something faster - soon. So the cable TV lines might be the answer. In my view, they are paying a premium price for content combined with dated technology. If they were a little sharper, (and if they monitored this thread), they might understand that the technology is moving toward wireless.
