sandintoes,

They were talking about partnering with people. I think if we put our heads together we could think of a few companies that might not want to partner with AOL/TimeWarner because they compete with one or both of them and will turn to people like GNET.

Certainly a merger of this size size will change the landscape quite dramatically. Maybe there will be a window of opportunity to do some things before AOL can respond competitively when they finally close the deal many months down the road.

There was an article in the WSJ today speculating that maybe the new AOL might have to divest its interest in Road Runner. Several people have ownership stakes in that and there are probably more cooks in the kitchen there then at the mess over at Excite@Home. I am surprised Hindery lasted as long as he did. At least GNET management should be able to make decisions quickly and move decisively. These other operations are probably full of back stabbing execs with corporate politics messing things up. I know many people that have worked at various divisions of Time Warner through the years and I was always amazed at their sense of entitlement and phat expense accounts that came with their positions. Merging that attitude with AOL's corporate culture will be interesting to watch.

------------

I certainly don't have all the answers but this thread really needs to get back to discussing GNET. Its one thing to celebrate up days or joke around but this is getting ridiculous.

Last year Russ made a statement that I will paraphrase from memory:

"If we lose this battle it won't be for a lack of trying or lack of hard work-it will be because somebody beat us and deserved to win"
