A Little of Everything
By James J. Cramer

1/13/00 8:25 PM ET

James J. Cramer chatted on Yahoo! on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m. ET. As with all chats, this transcript is unedited.

ChatYahoo_Lisa: Welcome!

Creme_Delacramer: Hello everybody. Right now, as we speak, Intel is trading at $95, soft is trading higher and the market looks great and boy am I ever ready for questions on the banks, the drugs, the techs and the Yahoos!!

apollyonn asks: If you had to buy one tech stock which one would it be?

Creme_Delacramer: You cut me to the quick. But I will still say CISCO. The great networker.

vickers asks: Where's AOL going? :

Creme_Delacramer: Janus guys are saying. They love the merger and they discovered AOL before almost anyone.

alwayshort asks: Jim , what methods do you use when deciding to sell?

Creme_Delacramer: I have a set discipline which forces me to sell as a stock goes up but I will keep a core position as long as the fundamentals stay strong. I think Intel is about to hit a definitive upswing based on its strategy involving communications and networking, which is finally taking off. Asia is very strong for intel.

pkaihla asks: RE: WCOM. One more thing, in this kind of volatility and triple-digit multiples, MCI Worldcom seems to have little downside with a forward P/E close to 20. Comment? -Paul in Toronto.

Creme_Delacramer: I am sick of Bernie Ebbers and his arrogance, I am sick of this guidance down and then guidance up and I find it discouraging to be in Worldcom right here.

NotBobLessin asks: So does the great INTC number mean you're jumping back into the 4-letter stocks, or still too early?

Creme_Delacramer: Please, Not Bob--and I say hi cause you are a regular -- it was not the four letters per se it was the four letters that trade in 15 point increments. Intel fits perfectly into my OLD TECH embrace as I have outlined in the site, TheStreet.com.

apollyonn asks: Jim what is your top b2b pick?

Creme_Delacramer: Portal Software and BEA Systems would be my fave two here.

DWALF50 asks: Jim, do you see more than a 10% correction in the NASD anytime soon?

Creme_Delacramer: No, but individual stocks have been cut in half. EPNY, for example, is down 50%. I just saw AskJeeves lose half of its value. Akamai is down about 100 points. Those are real hits with real blood on their hands.

mstick99 asks: AOL - Time Warner OH NO 2000 more CD Roms in my mail

Creme_Delacramer: You better get rid of snail mail entirely. As we talk I see that intel says inventories were at record lows--you gotta love the tel here.

Ohh_Brian_YESSS asks: Still dislike TYC? It is on the NYSE, after all.

Creme_Delacramer: That one has gotten too hard for me. Too much of a battleground.

mchow asks: What do you think of AMD stock for both the short and long term? Would you buy AMD or Intel stock?

Creme_Delacramer: I can't believe it but I am long AMD for the first time and am even buying some now as we chat. I am taking 37 stock.

Trench_rat asks: JjC...finally made it to your chat....any thing account on the wild run on that "new red hot" called ELON?

Creme_Delacramer: People keep pumping me on that one. I am sticking with the stuff I know.

sidneysealine asks: You once said that you believed a breakup of microsoft would actually be bullish, ie drive the value higher. Do you still believe that?

Creme_Delacramer: Of course it depends. If they make the windows division into a dot.org it would ruin everything. Right now the plans being floated sound like something from Marx and Engels. I think Lenin would have a hard time with some of these most recent plans.
