Just speculating here, but Nokia's strategy could well be to concentrate on 3G, which is at least a year away from prime time, and milk the hell out of GSM and its interim 2.5G TDMA/GSM solutions. After all there's still a lot of money to be made there and growth is still strong, so there's no need to be distracted by 2.5G CDMA. In the meantime Nokia quietly perfects its WCDMA offering and develops a smooth migration path to 3G for existing customers. Otherwise, why not embrace Q's technology whole hog and don't even bother with WCDMA.
