Hello Everybody! I have never visited this thread since becoming an SI member. I was a little confused there for a while whether I was on the Intel or AMD thread :)

I'm assuming like many of you, I have AMD on the mind because of Intel's earnings yesterday. I really don't think the situation can be dissected anymore than what has been done here. Many, many good posts and thoughtful opinions.

I don't follow the chip sector as I once did. Ever since Micron fell from grace, and then Intel also being relinquished of its almighty position it once enjoyed (meaning more than it does now), I pretty much stopped following it as well.

What surprises me here is what seems to be a "general" lack of enthusiasm for AMD. I'm aware AMD has had its share of problems. However, everybody is also aware of the thorn in Intel's side they have become due to their taking away market share and of course, the Athlon and the media's frenzied love affair with constant comparisons to the Pentium.

However, this chip has caused a great deal of headaches in the form of backorders for AMD, which of course translates into revenue. Perhaps, more revenue than AMD has ever seen or is expected to come.

What surprises me is the consensus here (or maybe what I perceive to be a lack thereof) on this thread that AMD will not rocket like an explosion when their earnings are announced or/and there afterwards. At least, I don't see (unless I totally missed it) many people posting as such. I see AMD getting an easy $5 to $10 pop in the next two weeks, and not a so farfetched price of $80 to $100 by the end of summer. No intentions of being coy or "cliche'-ish", this is truly IMHO.

Have I missed something here? or, Do I have misconceptions about what people are really feeling here?
