Re: It appears he never made much more than a brief mention of Qualcomm in that issue. Also, didn't the WSJ say that it wasn't mentioned again for three or so years.
Gilder initially placed QCOM on his recommended list on September 24, 1996 at $5.00/share. My back issues only go back to October '98 but I find QCOM mentioned in Gilder's commentaries in October '98, Nov.'98, Dec.'98, and Jan.'99. Qualcomm is then highlighted and featured as, "the prime call of this letter" in the April '99 issue, at $20/share. I think this is sufficient to consider Gilder, "getting QCOM right".
Re: 3 days to receive an email, yes an email, to get my password. Huh??
Today, mid-morning, you will have access to the January issue at the same time as every other subscriber with a computer and modem at Gilder's web site. Duh??
Re: Also, didn't I read that he is advising Merrill now.
Gilder covered that in his subscriber forum, it amounts to something like four conference calls a year and he reiterated that his primary obligation will always be to his subscribers.
Speaking of which, his subscriber forum is one of the best I have encountered, both because Gilder himself participates and because of the generally high level of participants.....even got a heads up on a famous Guru's recent change-of-course before many of his own subscribers.
