The Sensar...Secure©Cam prototype is a small desktop device, approximately the size of a videoconferencing camera, that uses digitally encoded images of the human iris (the colored portion of the eye) to provide a highly accurate, easy-to-use and virtually fraud-proof means to verify a customer's identity.
``Sensar is an important new distribution partner for SAFLINK Corporation,' said Walter Hamilton, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for SAFLINK. ``We've been working closely with Sensar for the past several months to jointly develop and demonstrate advanced network security solutions to select major corporations and federal government agencies. ``With the recent flood of cyberattacks in the news, the world's leading companies are eagerly searching for a better way to identify and authenticate network users,' said Thomas J. Drury, Jr., President and CEO of Sensar. ``The Sensar, SAFLINK product combinations will provide companies with the strongest security available on the desktop today. As Sensar's...Secure©Cam prototype develops over the next several months, we expect to see dramatic advances in ease of use coupled with incremental features including Video for Windows(TM) compatible video conferencing capability.'
Sensar uses the iris recognition process developed and licensed from IriScan, Inc., of Marlton, New Jersey, in which digitally encoded images of the human iris are used to provide a highly accurate and easy-to-use means of identity verification. With 266 identification characteristics, the iris is the human body's most unique physical structure. Unlike other measurable human features in the face, hand, voice or fingerprint, the patterns in the iris do not change over time.
