Carl...yes TRKN will have earnings (losses) tomorrow after close.... TRKN still has a lead in the etch area, but it seems TRKN focus last year was in the DRAM FABs...and as we both know that area is in over capacity and dead for awhile. The logic area is the new focus for TRKN especially after the electrotech deal....the flowfill provides some very significant advantages in logic chip manufacturing and I suspect it will open the doors for the etch products in that area. TRKN does have a bennefit over others but again it's going to take time to convince them of that. It's unfortunate that TRKN focused mostly on DRAM in the last two years.

Results have shown that TRKN etchers are better in the .25u/.18u area, AMAT and LRCX do well in the .25u and that is were the industry is today so the tendency is to use AMAT or LRCX. The results from Hyundai have shown a 10% yeild improvement over AMAT etchers....I think this is significant...but again DRAM is in the toilet.

I am starting to hear some good things about TRKN's oxide etch. Oxide etch has been a problem in manufacturing for .25u, I have heard that TRKN has made significant progress in this area...lets hope they elaborate in the conf call.

In summary I still think TRKN has a technolgy lead over others in all three areas...etch, PVD and CVD....at this point it looks like CVD may be the tool that is going to generate the most interest and put TRKN on fab radar screens. This will then help them drive the other tools. Oxide etch and Frocefill are penetrating the logic Fabs today on their own, but I think flowfill will be the major revenue generator in 1998 and also be the shoe in for the other tools.
