Well, I see discrimination and demonizing, whether it be classism or racism, as brothers under the skin...and the common DNA to be the disallowing of individuality...stereotyping.

Must be the Levantine influence,<g> or it could have something to do with changes in demographics...as the Romans adopted elements of the Greek culture they thrived, and surplanted the Greeks...perhaps because of numbers, perhaps because of refinements to the previous culture, or perhaps because of unresolved internecine conflicts among the Greeks.
