Alcatel To Launch Stock Option Program For Employees

Dow Jones Newswires -- January 14, 2000

PARIS -- French telecommunications equipment supplier Alcatel SA (ALA) will launch a stock option program in the first half of 2000 for its employees worldwide, the company said in a statement. The program, which includes 7.2 million stock options, will be submitted to Alcatel's board in March.

Part of Alcatel's new stock option program is linked to a capital increase reserved for employees, Alcatel said. A plan of 1.8 million stock options will be offered to employees worldwide within the frame of a capital increase of 600,000 Alcatel shares.

Alcatel shares were trading up 1.8%, or EUR3.90, at EUR217.50 around 0810 GMT.
