Ruffian,

<< Bell Atlantic Connects with Cell-Phone Plan >>

Thanks for posting Mossberg's article on BAM and their national SingleRate USA plan. Coincidentally, before I read this I had just posted to our friend Tero over on the Nokia thread on this subject.

I've been using the SingleRate USA plan since its its inception and BAM for much longer. My experiences are similar to Mossberg's. Exceptional coverage all over the US and not just inside urban areas. I haven't found an equal.

I'm using an old, heavy, 800 MHz Qualcomm QCP 800 AMPS/CDMA job, that I've droped 10 dozen times.

Everything has its price as Mossberg points out. I average about 600 minutes a month and pay $160 a month with 1,600 minutes (1000 of which I don't use) but it's still a better value for me than SingleRate East because with it I have to pay add on roaming and Long distance charges when out of BAM country. The majority of business travellers I know with similar business usage, use the AT&T OneRate plan at $70 less per month than me. They suffer from frequent fast busys and dropped calls that I won't tolerate. I'm hoping however they'll adjust their rates (better bundle) and throw in some data service at a reasonable upcharge some day soon and when they do I'll replace my QCP 800 with whatever is most suitable for CDMA data.
