doors are closed and his only direction is to exit via
the field to either the cheers or jeers from the peanut
gallery.

You said it right. Until now, it has been buy-on-the-dips,
something that even schmucks in high school investment
clubs and grandmothers' knitting circles and the talking
heads on CNBC have been advocating. This is where Brinker
has parted company with them. This is where his reputation
will be made (or unmade). When I see the schmucks, I
almost wish that Brinker is right. But time alone will
tell whether he is or is not.
