Patents and trade marks can be an over-rated pastime too.
I remember learning that lesson at an early age, when American made "PARKER 51 Pens were the object of envy just after WWII.

Almost before the peace was signed some enterprising Oriental gentleman had incorporated a company called
P.Arker 51 and located it in a new town called Usa in Japan.
You needed a magnifying glass to spot the period or absence of periods. Europe was flooded with such products with everyone keen to buy, after the hardship of 7 years of war..

Always read the fine print.
