Bob,
WOW says it is "updating" the securities, which, to me, means only adding latest date's data. But, I went into the data via explorer and changed one price figure on the oldest date, and imported that one security again, and WOW made the change, so, yes, it is changing the entire file when you import following a QP2 daily update. If the file doesn't change, there is no reason to delete the files in the WOW directory by using WOW maintenance. If the file is changed daily, as through a QP2 scan like Ptar, then obviously both the directory in WOW and the file on the HD that QP2 exports to would have to be cleared prior to export of scan result and WOW import. The directory I use for scans I don't waste time automatically updating because I'll run a new scan before looking at it anyway.
Interestingly, WOW will leave the oldest date's data intact even if the QP2 exported data has less days. When I changed the data to see if WOW would incorporate the change, I used the oldest date--which was Sept 29,1997 as I export only 600 days. Then looking at the chart in WOW, it had Sept 25th as the oldest date--so it doesn't drop data if it is more than what is exported by QP2. This means you could export like only 30 days AFTER the initial export and both the export and the import should run much faster--that assumes there are no correction older than 30 days.
