Re: Channel Commercial(sym:CHNL): Bell Atlantic-LD / AOL-TWX / T-MediaOne

Thread- Totally in the FWIW category(this post is free to read), I thought I would mention that a microcap I have had a position in a long time is down about 16% off it's recent highs and is around where it generally bases. There could be some bad news coming up, but with the incredibly light volume, I doubt it. But you never know.

It's fundamentally very sound. A PSR under 1. Selling at book. Something like a 30% growth rate. Amazingly has earnings and a PE of 12. Consistently makes money. Perfectly positioned for both telco and cableco infrastructure spending. Here's a link to their products:
channellcomm.com

Here's why I think it's interesting now:
1. CHNL has a good relationship with Bell Atlantic (who recently got the LD approval). A significant contract with BEL from what I recall.
2. CHNL counts Time Warner as their largest customer(but I have not recently verified this). As everyone is now predicting, the AOL-TWX merger means great things for TWX's cable network upgrades.
3. CHNL had a great contract with MediaOne before AT&T's announced purchase of MediaOne messed this contract up. So I would assume that when/if T closes on MediaOne, this would mean good things for CHNL.

Most of the stuff above is off the cuff. So take it with a large grain of salt. It should all be verified before even thinking about investing. IMHO, CHNL is in sort of a no-brainer position now. They have the products, capitalization costs are over, so now they make more money (IF the sales are there).

They could still warn even though they confidently believe they will beat $1.00/share in 1999 as follows, "Bill Channell, Jr., President and Chief Operating Officer, said ``We are confident that we will exceed the expected $1.00 earnings per share targeted for the year as a whole. Based on the strong foundation we have laid for next year and the robust growth we are experiencing in our businesses across the board, we are very excited about the year 2000 and the opportunities we have identified both domestically and overseas..."

Remember, FWIW. -MikeM(From Florida)
