Just had lunch with my broker friend. Expects KLSE to hit 1000 by Feb. 1. Then continue upwards to May before a major correction.

Reasons
1. Morgan Stanley index will pick up Malaysia on May 31
2. Exit tax (10%) is heavily 'rumored' to be axed shortly (he feels this is a done deal and they are waiting to announce until all the "friends" are invested) This is a very recent rumor (3 days) but has been mentioned casually in the lead up to the elections by Ministry of Finance heads.
3. Foreign fund managers - specifically Singapore and Hong Kong based funds are buying on the cheap ahead of the above two developments.
4. Chinese New Year effect (he is Chinese) will not be as pronounced as previously.

I just may get some EMS and hedge them with shorting the futures locally.
