What do we make of this, from Tracy Swedlow's Thursday newsletter?

Veon, the pioneer of Internet-based broadband interactive
television technology called "hypervideo" (enables content
producers to place links to other Web pages, movies, hot spots,
animations, graphics, ecommerce America Online to feature their
VeonPlayer on AOL's Plus broadband service. This news comes right
in between two events Veon is hosting (one in New York Jan. 11 and
one in L.A. coming up on the 20th called the Interactive
Broadband Video Summit - see advertising below.) Any business
relationship with AOL, of course, is terrifically significant
because that technology will certainly be ported to AOL's
broadband set-top box platform, AOLTV, and the many brands and
interactive platforms AOL Time Warner distribute in the years
to come. In addition to their player, Veon offers a producer's tool
to create the hypervideos and a comprehensive backend tracking
server. Coupled with this announcement, Veon also launched their
VeonBuilder Partner Program to keep communications flowing within
that community.
