Yes, let's huddle in this shelter in the storm. I haven't read the Q thread thoroughly the last few days. In speculating why it degenerated I guess people are so obsessed with getting rich as quick as they can, that when a stock starts to take a breather and starts basing and forming a foundation for its next run, they go bonkers. They can't even wait it out a frigging month! Meanwhile, there are so many newly minted quillionaires bashing each other, when what they should be doing is trying to help the less fortunate. Now that they have $. In fact, I feel that about every thread on SI. Every time I post on any thread on SI about doing that, not a soul answers my posts private or public. Nobody seems to care. Except Poet, I'm not kidding, she's the only one who answered my post about sponsoring a Tibetan refugee at the monastery in India, which only costs $20 a month. Since this is Saturday I just have to say, if you've travelled around the world at all you know how lucky every one of us is, at least fiscally--we have enough $ to have computers and online accounts, even those of us with smaller accounts. I just interviewed a doctor who went on a volunteer mission to Nepal for a month, it took him 5 days to trek there, nobody had running water, the mothers would come in with a card that listed how many children they'd had and how many had died, because only 1 out of 5 makes it to adulthood. So when I see the bickering all over SI I have to wonder about America.
So I just hope we all appreciate that, and I hope this thread WILL be a haven.
