Dave, there is an interesting perspective voiced by Joe Wagner of the HLIT thread which was reposted in the Gilder thread here in SI. Take a look.

My focus is on the first part of the message, the part that deals with the protocols supported by Lightwire and HLIT's fiber extensions. My focus is clearly NOT on the political implications and inferences which follow, in the second half of the message.

I wasn't aware that there was an express intent to do this through the use of HLIT's or anyone else's HFC design. If so, it speaks directly to our hypothetical SINet discussion. Of course, there is not mention in that message about replacing the coax entirely. Comments?
