In April I set up an account with Waterhouse for my daughter and put some money in it. She invested in 7 bandwidth-related companies including BRCM, CNXT, and JDSU. She bought 6 or 8 or 12 shares of these companies. Since April her account has more than tripled even though 3 of her companies have been dogs.

Why would anyone insist on not buying less than 100 shares?
