Bill,

I do not expect AMD to be staic and let Intel catch up.

Since when Intel has been in the catch up mode?

I vividly remember reading tons of of post's here about Intel's two and half speed grades advantage besides one and half to two generations of process superiority over AMD. Now I ask you again - are you sure that Intel is in a catch up mode?

Also remember constant touting of how Intel will be ahead and in full volume with their 180nm before AMD begins it's 180nm production. Now I see a lot of scrambling with a bad temper to explain the current status of Intel's 180nm progress - it's not like turning a spigot, you can't buy all the equipment, and what not.

When Sharky predicted that Athlon 600s wouldn't show up on Pricewatch until Jan,2000 - there were posts ridiculing AMD yields and that Intel wouldn't even contemplate of taking such a product to production. Now we see posts illustrating how a product showing up on pricewatch is a kind of bad deal or something.

Very interesting turn of events and propaganda within the last year or so.

Now we are seeing a new set of broken records being played on this thread repeatedly about Willamett(spelling?), Itanium, Coppermine superiority, Coppermine keeping up with Athlon clock speeds, etc. I wonder how many of these broken records will disappear quietly by the end of this year. I also wonder what new ones would appear on this thread to take place of the vanished ones.
