Larry et al:

Believe it or not, I have found a gold mutual fund that actually had a very
successful year (1999). It was up 28 %: Vanguard Precious metals fund.
Interestingly absent fromt their top holdings are: Barrick and Placer Dome.
They have Stillwater, and a couple of South Africans, and Franco Nevada
among others in their top 10 holdings.

Funds are often a good way to look at a market, rather than indices, since
money managers don't have to hold the stocks in the indices (.e.g. XAU).
In actuality, Fidelity's 2 precious metal funds still remain above their 200
day MA (just barely), and the 50 day averages are still above the 200 day
MA's, but we desperately need a rally next week to keep the trend from
reversing.

Cheers

Dan, looking at the glass from the 1/4 full viewpoint.
