SpryGuy - Re: "Next 5 years will more than offset stagnant bygone years!"

Oh - you can tell the future, eh?

You wouldn't be some kind of Gypsy, would you ?

Since you can see the future so well, I assume you SHORTED AMD's stock last January, 1999 - just before they issued their first of MANY, MANY announcements predicting SUBSTANTIAL losses.

You did foresee those negative developments - didn't you ?

Re: "Intel appears to be having much more success in areas outside the microprocessor marketplace now that they must compete with the youthful champion, the Athlon"

Intel's aging, crippled P6 core has BEAT AMD to the 733 MHz mark and the 800 MHz mark - and didn't need a shot of GERITOL - in the form of a VOLTAGE JACKUP - to reach 800 MHz as the Spry Wipey did !

And...many independent Benchmarks have shown that even a 750 MHz Coppermine is faster than an 800 MHz AthWiper.

So...I think the Spry Wipey is ALREADY hitting performance bottlenecks.

And to think - Intel beat AMD in the speed race, even after suffering all those missteps.

You'd better hope and pray that AMD executes FLAWLESSLY for the next 5 years - a hope that, in the past, has NEVER come true.

You do believe in miracles - don't you Spry ?

Paul
