"What if the stock drops to $45 right away ?

Do you mean the $50 stock? One should be tracking it using level 11 data and aware of it's tick movement. If it downticks four times, and is a slow mover, if one were playing 1000 shares, hit the SELL button, taking 1/4 point loss is a general rule many traders go by.
Playing a fast mover, YHOO, 100 shares is all it takes to give you a rush, which can run down 50 to 60 points in 5 minutes many traders allow a 5 point loss before bailing out
