I agree that AOL becomes, more like a core holding with a stable earnings growth profile. The jury is out on PE compression. I believe what Henry Blodget of Merrill Lynch is saying about 12 month price targets, fully.

Looking at the fundamentals of the merger there are very strong earnings possibilities from the synergies (broadband cable; music distribution on demand; movies on demand, etc.). Also with any merger of this size there are cost savings. Costs will be cut by economies of scale, elimination of duplication, reductions in personnel.

IMO the merger will prompt convergence of Internet with media in other companies to compete with AOL Time Warner.

Please read the articles in the New York Times. Politically the merger means entre into foreign markets where CNN's Ted Turner and Time Warner has great credibility. This is a big positive.

Beneficiary: SUNW; EMC; CSCO plus other hardware and software players. These companies will be huge beneficiaries especially SUNW which has a special relationship with AOL (not only in their dislike for Microsoft). I have holdings in SUNW that will significantly grow while I wait for AOL Time Warner to reach its price potential.

Volatility will occur in the stock for awhile until the issues are clarified, which the Times articles start to do.
