"If everyone does that, that who the hell " Market sells have priority over Limit orders. Every market sell I've ever entered in my life got filled. As for who buys them, if it keeps going down you could say they were stupid,if it goes up you could say they were smart. When I enter a market sell using realtick 111, routing SOES, I get my confirm sale in just a few seconds and I know it should have filled at the offer price, not the bid. OLB's don't have that kind of speed & you never know at what price or when the confirm will come back.
