Hi Simon,

Yes, there are other neural net products available {Neuroshell Trader, BioComp Profit, DeepInsight, etc.}. You can get some info on some of these on Optim's thread here at SI. Just type Neural and run a search and you'll find it. The only one of those three that I'm familiar with is DeepInsight. There is also a new program out called Bulltrack that you might want to take a look at.

<just trying out the demo version of neurostock 2.4. So far the results haven't been stellar>

The reason why your results with the demo are less then "stellar" is because you can't use the generic setup parameters that are in the help files. They won't work {I'm assuming Andrew hasn't changed the help files recently}. I've worked with this program for months since the data leak was fixed, and have yet to see one net that was set up with those settings that I was satisfied with.

However, I do have Neurostock working. It took a long time and a lot of testing, but I have worked out a net setup that produces accurate buy signals for most stocks {there are exceptions, not all stocks will train properly with this setup, but it only takes about 5 minutes to find out if the stock is trainable}. On the other hand, with this setup, the sell signals are a tad late most of the time {the stock has already started to decline slightly before Neuro sells}. Due to the way I trade, this doesn't really bother me, because I'm already out of the stock before this happens. For me, the buy signals are the most important. I want to open the position in the stock at the right time. Closing the position is not a problem. This being said, I just want to say that I am still working on getting the sell signals accurate. So far I haven't been able to move them much without messing up the buy signals. I have thought about two nets for each stock, one for buy signals and one sell signals. I may decide to try that route. In order to do this net setup, you must have some type of charting program that will export files that Neuro can read. I'm using Window On Wallstreet to supply all of the data files for each net.

If you want more info about what I'm doing, or anything else about Neuro let me know. I'll help if I can.

Jay
