Colleen,
God morning to you.
Thank you for the scripture this morning. I want to relate a story as told by Jim McGuiggan in his book,'Jesus, Hero of Thy Soul'.pp 115-116.
E.O. Wilson, materialist, atheist, and Darwinian, was the one, I'm told, who coined the word "sociobiology." He believes if we hate or love or are indifferent or whatever,it's because it's been programmed into our genes. In all kinds of ways Wilson has been saying to God, "leave me alone." Robert Wright, in his book ,Three Scientists and Their Gods; tells what happened when the Pulitzer Prize-winning biologist attended a memorial service for Martin Luther King Jr. at Harvard. In the middle of the service, which included a speech by King Sr. and many hymns, Wilson began to weep. Later, when asked why such a died-in-the-wool opponent of God wept, he explained that he hadn't been to such a service in so long and one of the hymns he remembered from years earlier had gotten to him. "It was the feeling that I had been a long way away from the tribe," he said. It was "merely tribal", he assured them.....
To which Jim adds, Perhaps, "please leave me alone" ........"NO". |
