Annette, I have observed items 4 and 5 with great frequency. Just yesterday I was purchasing cat food at one of the mega pet stores and the cashier was about to give me my money when she was interrupted by another employee who wanted to gab. The cashier stopped what she was doing and talked to the other employee for about a minute before she gave me my change. The conversation was not work-related.

Two weeks ago my wife and I went to one of the "in" restaurants in downtown Houston (Migalone) at the relatively new "Bayou Place." We sat in at a table in the bar area to have a couple of glasses of wine before we walked to the movie theatre. It took 15 minutes for a server to come over. Two other tables of people, tired of the wait, got up and left without being served.

Three months ago in Carmel I made an appointment for a manicure (yes, guys do get manicures). I showed up at the appointed time and the shop had closed early.
